Hi Fellow brewers. I have watched a few of Gash's vid on youtube- he is a bit of a hoot eh. Anyway I have just mooved from extract to grain ( when the robo shows up that is) so any advise will be appreciated. I use rain water and I am not sure what defaults to put in the online calculaters, maybe just 0 for all and measure the ph after the grain is added?. Ferment & dispense all from the same vessel via a kegerator and brew kegs by williamswarn

G'day mate! I havent used rainwater myself, but its worth a try, I've heard of other people using it successfully. You may want to filter it? Just a regular filter, but probably not necessary either if you think its in good nick. You may want to check mash pH although without getting too technical to start with there is a product you can buy called 5.2 pH Stabilizer which might help with the pH if it needs it, it wont hurt in any case. Also maybe add a teaspoon or so of calcium chloride to enhance the malty character of a beer, while calcium sulphate will bring out hop character, but might be worth just seeing how you go first.

Cheers Johno!

Brewing a familiar Dark Mild later today. (hint: Was the bastard tired? Or was he run over by a tire (tyre). No one really knows). One thing for sure. It will be a treat when done. Cheers!
