Think i will skip the sight glass for now, i can always add that at a later stage if i need to. I will be using this as a wort boiler and converting a 33lt FV bucket into a HLT as i already have that.

Only trouble now is that now the top is off the keg and its all going ahead i am back to the dilemma of do i go Gas(butane) or do i go electric ? As Gash has discussed with me(Ty BTW) there are pros and cons to both. I need to make this decision in the next few days as i want to get this done but if i cut holes for elements i can't go back and use gas.I am leaning towards Butane as it is easier to control and fine tune on the boil as Gash pointed out(if i blow myself up i am blaming him :woohoo: )

BTW i say butane because it is easier to get and for the higher cost propane does not offer any outstanding benefits tbh.

The type of gas ring i am looking at is the one below;

www.ebay.com/itm/Heavy-Duty-Steel-Framed...tering-/321194379957

That one in particular would cost me 45 euro roughly to get to my door.USA and Aussie style burners with the jets are just too expensive especially with the shipping.

ok when thinking about gas, you will need a high pressure regulator and because the bottom of the keg is usually wide and not flat you will more then likely need some sort of stand to support the weight. Things are never easy are they :huh:

Tell ya what, the gas setup is sounding more complicated by the minute. Sod that i think i will go electric for both HLT and keggle tbh, parts are cheaper and easier to get as well.

Thing with gas is unless u have 2 tanks you'll end up refuelling a bottle that has some in it in case you might run out halfway through the boil.

Powers usually available all the time, you don't need to re fill and if you go the kettle route look at my utube video on what I done my elements have done well over 25 boils and still strong for $8 each I'm pretty wrapoed

Ebay man, step bits are expensive.

you would get away with a normal brand new hole saw if u go very slow and use a good lube or oil you'll get ya 2 holes cut, but as soon as you go fast or heat it up too much it will be fucked.....

i done 28 32mm holes in 4mm 316 SS at work not long ago with 1 normal holesaw, apprentice didnt even get one done without fucking a brand new one.... its just about SLOW and LUBE..... kinda like anal sex really :)

Brewing a familiar Dark Mild later today. (hint: Was the bastard tired? Or was he run over by a tire (tyre). No one really knows). One thing for sure. It will be a treat when done. Cheers!
