Counter Pressure Filler vs Beer Gun was created by ajburnet
Hey folks,

Finally had some time to bottle my first batch of IPA from the fermentasaurus (under pressure). I had bought the KK counter pressure filler but it was a bit of a nightmare. Lots of foam (brought fermenter in from the cold garage which probably didn't help - about 5 inches of foam in the bottle) and I also didn't chill the bottles.

Anyway - it wasn't very quick to use and it seems to be pretty tricky with beer erupting out of the bottle when removing the filler. Probably my unskilled usage!! The three bottles I filled are also now flat...

Do you think the beer gun is better than the counter filler? I need it to be quick and not messy really - no time during the week like many I'm sure so happy to invest in something that is quick and reduces clean-up.

If you reckon the counter filler and beer gun are much the same, I'll probably stick with it and see if I can perfect it!

Ta!

Alex.

I have the Keg King beer gun and it works fine and I don't need to chill bottles either. I haven't used the counter pressure filler. My guess is it works, you just have to get the hang of it.
What are you bottling for? For storage or just for a few takeaways?

Thanks - for storage really, plus to fill a growler every so often...

Might grab the gun. Beer foam in my face = pissed off me!!! :)

Cheers,

Alex.

I guess you emptied 99% of the pressure out of the fermentasaurus? And use only 1 or 2 psi to push it out, use the counter pressure to fill the bottles slowly. Shouldn't be much foam, but make sure you cap on foam.

Brewing a familiar Dark Mild later today. (hint: Was the bastard tired? Or was he run over by a tire (tyre). No one really knows). One thing for sure. It will be a treat when done. Cheers!
