Pale Malt & Ale Malt was created by Photobrew
Hey guys,
Can someone give me a basic answer, is there a real difference between "Ale" malt & "Pale malt"??
Which is better? I know Ale malt seems to be a little more expensive.
Thanks!

G'day, As far as I know Pale malt is like two row lightly kilned ale malt as used in American Ales, whereas Pale Ale Malt is kilned at a higher temperature so is usually 1 or 2 points darker in colour, hard to notice by the eye but usually has a little more flavour, think Maris Otter, english style pale ales. They are more or less interchangeable especially once other speciality malts are added in, even though they do taste slightly different. Cheers!

Brewing a familiar Dark Mild later today. (hint: Was the bastard tired? Or was he run over by a tire (tyre). No one really knows). One thing for sure. It will be a treat when done. Cheers!
