When do i harvest my hops.

Gidday, Gidday, I have to say that my 2 hop plants are going better than i expected, Over 7 metres tall and an abuntent of flowers that have turned into some good looking hops. And plenty of them. So some look nearly ready and some are still in flower. Do i pick them as i see fit or do i leave the whole lot to mature and harvest them in one hit. Dont have a clue what to do, cheers

Yeah you can pick in batches which is often the case, leave a few of the first ones on to see how they develop, I see lots of people picking way too early, they look green and lush like the pics you see, but in practice I've found mine get the best aromas happening when they start browning, at least on the ends, smell them every day, or second day, and it'll just happen that the aroma will pop. you dont have much of a window usually, maybe a week once they are ready, then they go downhill fast. Thanks for that Gash, Just been having a look and recon i can harvest the lot on Monday or Tuesday.
After ive picked them do I have to dry them or are they ready to go? They are fuggle hops.
How do I guess how much to put in my brew?

You can use them green if you like, but if you want to keep them for more than a day or two you'll want to dry them. Dont use them for bittering because you have no idea on the AA% souse them late, and when they are wet you'll need 5x as mush as dried. Cheers mate! Nice pics too!

Great advice, ill use some fuggle hop pallets as usual for bittering.Freash picked Ill add 100g at 20 and 100g at 5 minute. Ill dry the remaining they seem to be all browning at the same time , large or small. So the remaining ill dry and store. Yes the aroma is starting to pop from yesterdays grassy smell and now today getting the spice. Think i will brew Thursday, feels about right.

Hop harvest and brew day went well. Ended up using 10 g of fuggles pallet hops at first wort at 80 minutes, Then 100g at 20min ,100 g at 5 min and100g at 1 minute.
I harvested 1.115 kg and still have about 3 or 400g on the bine i will pick tomorrow. I will have plenty left to dry and freeze.
