Description:
Unusual pleasant lemon/grapefruit citrus aroma distinctively hoppy.

English Pioneer:
Mainly bred from Wye Omega at Wye College in the UK. Distantly related to Wye Yeoman and sister of Herald.

Aroma: A mild typical English aroma
Cone Structure: Tight round cones
Lupulin: --

Growth & Harvest Information
Growth Habit: Semi dwarf, grows to 3.5 meters high.
Maturity: Mid to late season
Yield: 1300 - 1700 kg./ha. or 1200 - 1500 lb./acre
Pickability: Good
Drying and Baling: No problems
Storageability: Good
Disease Reaction: Moderate resistant to Verticillium Wilt and downy mildew, resistant to Powdery Mildew.

Acid Composition
Alpha Acid: 8.0 - 10.0% w/w
Beta Acids: 3.5 - 4.0% w/w
Co-Humulone: 36 - 40% of alpha-acids

Oil Composition
Total Oil: 1.0 - 1.8 mls/100 grams
Myrcene: 31 - 36% of whole oil
Humulene: 22 - 24% of whole oil
Caryophyllene: 7 - 8% of whole oil
Farnesene: Trace

General Trade Perception
A semi-dwarf hop as yet not widely grown. It is limited brewing trials suggest that this is a good dual purpose variety.

Other Information
Although this hop is classified as a dwarf variety it does not display all the characteristics associated with dwarfness and may grow better on low trellis, 10 foot wire work. Very limited acreage
