High alpha, alternative to Target.
Less harsh with pleasant hoppy character
English Admiral
Bred at Wye College in England, granddaughter of Wye Challenger.

Characteristics
Aroma: Used for it's bittering potential; Displays a typical English aroma.
Cone Structure: Small compact cones
Lupulin: Plentiful

Growth & Harvest Information
Growth Habit: Vigorous and untidy
Maturity: Mid-late season
Yield: 1,450 - 2,100 kg./ha. or 1,300 - 1,900 lb./ac.
Pickability: Easy to pick.
Drying and Baling: No problems.
Storageability: Good
Disease Reaction: Tolerant to Verticillium wilt, resistant to downy mildew, susceptible to powdery mildew.

Acid Composition
Alpha Acid: 13.0 - 16.0% w/w
Beta Acids: 4.8 - 6.1% w/w
Co-Humulone: 37 - 45% of alpha acids

Oil Composition
Total Oil: 1.0 - 1.7 mls/100 grams
Myrcene: 39- 48% of whole oil
Humulene: 23 -26% of whole oil
Caryophyllene: 6.8 - 7.2% of whole oil
Farnesene: 1.8 - 2.2% of whole oil

General Trade Perception
Looks to be good replacement for high alpha and dual purpose hops for brewing; Admiral is seen as a replacement to Wye Target.

Being grown for its high cropping and alpha yield.
